laminate floors -
a unique blend of
beauty and performance.

|
| |
|
Laminate flooring is made using a process by which
a medium-density or high-density fiber core is laminated
onto decorative paper and finished. This is achieved
by using either a one or two part process. Laminate
flooring can take many forms, styles, and textures.
Thickness can vary from 6 mils to 12 mils. Laminate
flooring is available in panels or individual pieces
depending on manufacturers.

Applications
Laminate flooring can be installed above, on, or
below grade, (1st floor, 2nd floor, or basement),
and must be floated. Please see manufacturer installation
guidelines regarding specific requirements for radiant
heat and concrete installation.

Grades
Although there is a standard that laminate
flooring must meet regarding fire ratings and other
specific construction requirements, there are no specific
grading rules regarding color variation or appearance.
While laminate flooring can vary in thickness, usually
described in thousands of an inch, laminate flooring
will differ in appearance from company to company
and even within differing product lines. Therefore,
you will find that names of products are more stylized,
and in many cases have names that reflect wood products.
Examples include "Rustic Oak" and "Milan
Maple."
