Full-Time Retail Sales Representative
Join our team at Highland Hardwoods — New England’s premier hardwood lumber supplier serving both retail and wholesale customers. We’re looking for a friendly, knowledgeable, and motivated Retail Lumber Yard Sales Representative to help customers find the perfect materials for their woodworking projects, renovations, and builds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist walk-in customers in selecting lumber, plywood, moldings, and related products
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations for woodworking, cabinetry, and construction projects
- Prepare sales orders, quotes, and special orders accurately
- Communicate with the yard crew to coordinate material pulls and deliveries
- Maintain a clean and organized retail sales area and displays
- Develop a working knowledge of species, grades, and product characteristics
- Assist with inventory, pricing updates, and restocking as needed
- Build relationships with both retail and contractor customers to encourage repeat business
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in retail, building materials, or woodworking is strongly preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
- Ability to work on your feet and lift lumber or materials up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Basic computer proficiencies

Full-Time Wholesale Sales Representative
Join our team at Highland Hardwoods, a leading supplier of premium hardwood lumber and specialty wood products, serving professional woodworkers, cabinet shops, millwork companies, and manufacturers throughout New England and beyond. We’re known for quality materials, deep inventory, and knowledgeable service—and we’re looking to add a driven Wholesale Sales Representative to our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of wholesale accounts
- Develop new business through outreach, referrals, and industry relationships
- Provide knowledgeable guidance on hardwood species, grades, milling options, and availability
- Prepare quotes, enter orders, and coordinate with operations to ensure accurate fulfillment
- Collaborate with production teams on custom milling, moulding, and specialty orders
- Monitor inventory and proactively communicate lead times and substitutions
- Maintain CRM records and sales documentation
- Represent Highland Hardwoods professionally with a focus on long-term partnerships
Qualifications:
- Experience in wholesale sales, preferably in lumber, building materials, or woodworking industries
- Strong understanding of hardwood lumber, grades, species, and common woodworking applications (or willingness to learn quickly)
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple accounts
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working under limited supervision and guidance
- Proficiency with order entry systems, CRM tools, and basic Microsoft Office applications preferred
- Valid driver’s license (travel to customer locations may be required)
