12/4 Cherry Rough Sawn Lumber is a beautiful American hardwood prized for its warm reddish-brown color, fine grain, and exceptional workability. Known for its timeless appearance and excellent machining characteristics, Cherry is a favorite among furniture makers, cabinetmakers, and woodworkers. The substantial thickness of 12/4 stock makes it especially well suited for large furniture components, thick tabletops, furniture legs, bedposts, turning blanks, and specialty woodworking applications requiring substantial solid hardwood material. Supplied rough sawn at approximately 3" thick, this lumber provides ample material for custom milling and dimensioning to your project's exact requirements.

Species: American Black Cherry (Prunus serotina)
Thickness: 12/4 (approximately 3" in the rough)
Grain: Typically straight and uniform, with a fine, smooth texture and occasional attractive figure, including curly or wavy grain
Color: Light pinkish-brown to warm reddish-brown, naturally developing deeper, richer reddish tones with age and exposure to light
Applications: Thick tabletops, furniture legs, bedposts, benches, turning blanks, decorative accents, architectural millwork, and specialty woodworking
Workability: Machines, sands, glues, and finishes exceptionally well. Cherry's fine, even texture makes it easy to achieve smooth surfaces, crisp edges, and detailed profiles. Its excellent machining characteristics make it suitable for both hand tools and power equipment, while clear finishes beautifully enhance its natural warmth and rich color.
