8/4 Purpleheart is a dense and durable exotic hardwood known for its unmistakable purple color, exceptional hardness, and strength. Freshly cut Purpleheart may initially appear brownish before exposure to light and air brings out its characteristic violet-purple tones. With time, the color can deepen toward darker purple and brownish-purple shades. The additional thickness of 8/4 stock makes it particularly well suited for substantial furniture components, turning projects, thick accent pieces, and other specialty applications where Purpleheart's natural color can take center stage.

Workability: Very hard, dense, and strong; machines best with sharp tools and may dull cutting edges more quickly than softer hardwoods. Sands and finishes to a smooth surface that highlights its distinctive color and grain
