8/4 Spanish Cedar is a lightweight tropical hardwood prized for its warm reddish-brown color, aromatic character, stability, and excellent workability. Although its name suggests otherwise, Spanish Cedar is not a true cedar and is more closely related to mahogany. The additional thickness of 8/4 stock makes it a versatile option for substantial furniture components, thicker boxes and humidors, turning and carving projects, and other specialty applications requiring stable, workable hardwood.

Species: Spanish Cedar (Cedrela odorata)
Thickness: 8/4 (approximately 2" in the rough)
Width: 4"–9" random widths
Finish: Rough sawn, skim planed
Grain: Generally straight to slightly interlocked, with a medium to coarse texture
Color: Pale pinkish brown to warm reddish brown, often deepening with age and exposure to light
Applications: Humidors, boxes, furniture components, millwork, carving, turning projects, musical instruments, and specialty woodworking
Workability: Lightweight and generally easy to machine, shape, carve, sand, and glue. Its stability and workability make thicker stock useful for a wide variety of custom woodworking projects
